Behn Meyer & Co

The Behn Meyer Group of Companies dates back to 1840 when two young men from Hamburg, Theodor August Behn and Valentin Lorenz Meyer, established Behn, Meyer & Co. in Singapore. From early beginnings in trading and shipping, Behn Meyer evolved to be a specialty supplier for a wide variety of industries across South East Asia. It is uncertain whether or not they actually manufactured cigarette papers or just imported them into the south east asian countries, but they did import cigarette papers, while based in Beach Street, Penang.  Style and design of these booklets are consistant with many other booklets manufactured or imported to south east asia and usually are printed using two colors; usually a background color with the text and images overlayed in gold print. Booklets are often without name. H. C. & Co may also be associates as they have also manufactured or imported cigarette papers to south east asia with the same brand names.
